FEATURED THIS WEEK:
Tuesday 09/13/05
AL PETTEWAY & AMY WHITE: NEW APPALACHIA
Al Petteway is a gifted finger-style guitarist. His wife, Amy White, is a triple-threat on piano, mandolin and guitar. Together they've been exploring a new Appalachian music mixing original compositions with traditional songs and seasoned with occasional musical journeys to the Celtic Isles. Their latest CD, LAND OF THE SKY(Maggies Music) is an homage to the landscape right outside their North Carolina windows. Al Petteway and Amy White talk about that old country home and the new music it inspires.
Wednesday 09/14/05
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH SUMNER MCKANE
Sumner McKane is a guitarist from Portland, Maine. During the night, he plays in a country and western band, but during the day, he retires to his basement studio where he orchestrates an atmospheric brand of ambient Americana, over-dubbing and looping multiple guitar lines into tone poems that evoke the great western skies more than the Maine coast or certainly, his basement. His latest album is NORTH (Don't Hit Your Sister Records). Sumner McKane gets his trio together in that basement for a living room concert of ambient guitar excursions and finger-style acoustic ruminations.
Friday 09/16/05
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH AL JEWER
Al Jewer is an expert on the Native American flute and he brings about a dozen of them into the Echoes Living Room. They include conventional cedar flutes as well as double and triple barreled instruments and a bass flute that's about 4 feet long. Jewer has been heard on Echoes with his group Cedar Wind and as half of the world fusion duo of Al Jewer & Andy Mitran. He plays a suite of solo flute songs derived from his latest album, RIVER CROSSING (Laughing Cat).

Very
old playlists are archived on a gopher server at The Well:

We
no longer administer this gopher site, but we're thrilled to
see that it's still up and running. Thanks to the kind folks
at The Well for maintaining it.
