INTERVIEWS AND CONCERTS FOR THE WEEK

Monday 09/03
ECHOES SEPTEMBER CD OF THE MONTH
JEFF OSTER: TRUE
It's been exactly 2 years since Jeff Oster's debut CD, Release. That album was an Echoes CD of the month and he repeats this month with his sophomore CD, True. Oster builds on the ambient fluegelhorn soundscapes and introspective grooves with impeccable production from Windham Hill Records founder, Will Ackerman. Ackerman plays on the disc along with Michael Manring, Philip Aaberg, Eugene Friesen and Samite. Jeff Oster rings True as Echoes September CD of the Month.

PHARAOH’S DAUGHTER IN AN ECHOES LIVING ROOM CONCERT
Ancient Hebrew hymns and global electro sounds live

Pharaoh's Daughter is an ambitious band put together by singer and oud player Basya Schecter. She explores her Jewish heritage through ancient Hebrew hymns and expands them into a global tapestry with Pharaoh's Daughter. The eight musicians cram into the Echoes Living Room to play music from their latest CD, Haran, live on Echoes.

DAVID FULTON & GILES REAVES INTERVIEW: TONE ON THE RANGE
Synthesizer veterans team up on the electronic trail

David Fulton was a founder of the veteran space music band, Dweller at the Threshold. Giles Reaves created an electronic classic in the 1980s with his debut album, Wunjo. Both musicians got together to create music born from their synthesizers in a cross country collaboration. We talk with David Fulton and Giles Reaves about their CD, The Range.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH BODHI
A shamanic flute player communes in his home
On the next Echoes, it's a living room concert for flute, electronica and global grooves when we hear Bodhi playing live. Bodhi usually plays long solo flute works that he calls Shamanic flute, but on his latest album, Trans-Ukraine, he goes up-tempo for some down-tempo grooves. We go trans-California to hear Bodhi playing live with a band in his San Rafael home.
