GARY STROUTSOS'S FLUTES OF SERENITY
Gary Stroutsos built his reputation playing Native American flute, but in the last two years, this Seattle based musician has turned to wind instruments from around the world, creating a music that breathes with shadowed ambiences. Last year he released HIDDEN WORLD (Narada) with synthesist Jonn Serrie. The two get together again on Gary's PACIFIC MOON (Paras) album. This time the tone is Asian with the addition of koto player, Elizabeth Falconer. Gary Stroutsos and his Pacific moon gazers talk about a meeting of tradition and ambience.

EPIPHANY PROJECT
John Hodian says his primary musical influences are Steve Reich, Keith Jarrett and Joni Mitchel. So it's no surprise that Minimalism, jazz piano and singer-songwriter lyricism are all evident on "Epiphany Project", his collaboration with Bet Williams. Hodian is an accomplished pianist and composer, working in theater and documentary scoring. Williams is a singer- songwriter. They talk about the combining these two disparate worlds into the cyclical, atmospheric soundscapes of their new CD.

JOSHUA SEURKAMP'S PERCUSSIVE MEDITATIONS
Joshua Seurkamp is the percussionist of choice in Cincinnati, working with many artists, among them Ric Hordinski a.k.a. Monk. Joshua recently released his solo debut, GARDEN OF SOUND (Blue Jordan), a largely brooding and meditative album full of swampy atmospheres, trancey percussion and the blues and country inflected guitars of Ric Hordinski. With his neon pink hair and soul patch beard, Joshua takes us into the musical and spiritual journey of his music, including playing some of his unique ceramic instruments.
