Acoustic guitar icon plays live in the Echoes Living Room
Ralph Towner is a giant of the acoustic guitar. From his work with the Paul Winter Consort and Oregon, he's garnered an international following for his guitar playing which merges elements of Brazilian, jazz, folk and classical music. His solo albums on ECM are treasured by acoustic enthusiasts. Towner comes into the Echoes living room to play live.

Electronic band builds music from scatted sounds and songs
Pedal steel guitar, big bands and helicopters are all possible in the music of Sounds from the Ground. That's the ambient duo of Elliot Jones and Nick Woolfson. For the last decade they've been creating a sampledelic mix of chilled sounds including their latest CD, Luminal. In their London home, Sounds from the Ground take us into ambient space.

Two guitarists invoke the muse of finger-styles Holy Trinity in live performance
Imaginational Anthem is an anthology series collecting new exponents of finger-style guitar in the tradition of John Fahey, Leo Kottke and Robbie Basho. Jesse Sparhawk and Jack Rose come into the Echoes Living room. Sparhawk plays a set of delicate finger-style instrumentals on 6-string. Jack Rose, best known for his work the avant-psychedelic folk group, Pelt, creates some raga-americana journeys on 12-string guitar.

PAUL ELLIS: INTERGALACTIC TRAVELER
An infinity of emotion from an electronic composer
In his Portland, Oregon studio, Paul Ellis seeks the emotion in electronics, combining his years of playing classical guitar with the precision of synthesizers. A founding member of the retro-space band Dweller at the Threshold, Ellis is still searching the galaxies on his own with a new CD called THE INFINITY ROOM. Ellis talks about his electronic journey.
