BIOMUSIQUE: THE 10,000 STEPS
Biomusique is a new group, but the musicians in it have been making challenging music for years. Lisbeth Scott is the singer from State of Grace and numerous soundtracks including the Narnia films and The Passion of the Christ. Greg Ellis was the percussion half of the Persian fusion duo, Vas. The two artists get together on a series of meditations for voice and global atmospheres that take both artists into new and intimate terrain. In the world of ambient chamber music, Ludovico Einaudi is becoming a major figure, cited by young bands like Balmorhea. The Italian composer is part Arvo Pärt and part George Winston, mixing fragile arrangements and electronic loops around his evocative piano melodies. We catch Ludovico Einaudi in an intimate solo set just for Echoes.

AN INTERVIEW WITH JAMES BLACKSHAW
An excursion into post-John Fahey raga guitar
James Blackshaw is a young English finger-style guitar who may have roots in the rustic avant-garde Americana of John Fahey, but he's finding his own sound that looks to Indian and new classical music as much as folk. He recently released the CD, The Cloud of Unknowing. James Blackshaw whips out his guitar in the Echoes Living Room.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH GOODING
A road warrior rocker takes an ambient detour
He just uses his last name, Gooding, and you can often find the Kansas-raised rocker fronting a power trio. But he also composes instrumental music with a more cinematic design, centered on his guitar playing, both acoustic and electric. Gooding plays live in his Los Angeles living room with keyboardist Jason "3AM" Rubenstein.
