WINDHAM HILL'S CINEMA: RE-SCORING MOVIES There are hours upon hours of scores churned out for motion
pictures. Most are forgettable. The ones that aren't are usually
bled to death for years. On CINEMA, Windham Hill Records gathers
their stable of artists to render personal takes on cinematic
themes old and new, obscure and popular. Among the interpretations
of works by John Williams, Ennio Morricone and Yann Tiersen are
performances by pianists George Winston and Liz Story, violinist
Tracy Silverman and guitarist Alex De Grassi. We talk with CINEMA
producer, Dawn Atkinson and some of the musicians about their
cinematic exploits.

PEPPINO D'AGOSTINO & STEF BURNS: FINGERSTYLE VS THE FRET BURNER Echoes listeners know Peppino D'Agostino for his sensitive
finger-style guitar playing and compositions. You've probably
heard Stef Burns without knowing it. He's an electric guitar
slinger who's recorded with Y&T, Alice Cooper and currently
tours with Huey Lewis & the News. These two neighbors in
San Francisco's East Bay suburbs have made a CD that strikes a
balance between sensitive interplay and furious virtuosity. It's
called BAYSHORE ROAD (Favored Nations Acoustic) and places Burns
electric on D'Agostino's finger-style trellis. The two musicians
talk about their collaboration.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH TOMMY EMMANUEL Tommy Emmanuel hails from Australia, but he's steeped in the
traditions of American folk and country music. He's been playing
professionally since he was seven years old, touring Australia
in a family band. After years working in ensembles and playing
sessions, he's been going it solo, plying a virtuoso display of
finger-style guitar. His latest album is ENDLESS ROAD (Favored
Nations Acoustic). Tommy Emmanuel comes to the Echoes living
room to play live.

JORANE-CELLO SONGS There aren't too many singer-songwriters whose main instrument
is the cello. Jorane is a Canadian musician with several albums
released north of the border, but she's just put out her first
U.S. recording, THE YOU AND THE NOW (Six Degrees), a haunting
disc of luminous cello driven songs and Jorane's darkly insinuating,
hymn-like vocals. Jorane talks about her music.
