DEEP FOREST: CLEAR CUTTING
Six years ago, Deep Forest leaped to global success with their debut album,
sampling the sounds of African pygmies and applying them to dance beats.
The group is still at it on a new CD called COMPARSA (550 Music/Epic) that
finds them traveling through central America. We talk to Deep Forest about
their global harvest.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH PAUL MACHLIS
Paul Machlis is American born, but he's a veteran of the New Celtica. In
addition to several solo CDs, he's recorded with Alasdair Fraser, William
Coulter and Mary McLaughlin. We'll hear Paul playing new music from his
album, "Green Woods" (Real Music). He's joined by guitarist William
Coulter, violinist Deby Benton Grosjean and uilleann piper in an intimate
performance.

WILLIAM ACKERMAN: OUT OF THE WOODS
William Ackerman started as a guitarist and Carpenter. Then he founded
Windham Hill Records and became a CEO. Now Ackerman is living on a few
hundred acres in Vermont, soaking up the atmosphere and after 6 years,
releasing his first album of new music. It's called Sound of Wind Driven
Rain (Windham Hill). Will talks about his new life and music that remains
as introspective as ever.

DAVID TOOP: DEEP, DARK & DECONSTRUCTED
David Toop is a musician who thinks a lot. He first came to renown on
Brian Eno's Obscure label alongside debut releases from Michael Nyman, John
Adams and Harold Budd. He's gone on to become one of the leading critics
of contemporary music and wrote the acclaimed book, OCEAN OF SOUND, which
postulates an immersive concept of music. He's been practicing what he
preaches on a series of challenging albums, including SCREEN CEREMONIES and
SPIRIT WORLD (Virgin U.K.) over the last few years. We enter David Toop's
London clutter to talk about music magic.
