Monday 05/14
AN INTERVIEW WITH JEFF BALL: A STRANGER IN NATIVE LANDS
Finding a voice in the sound of another culture
Jeff Ball is not a Native American, but years ago, he became enthralled by the sound of the Native American flute. He's become an expert on the instrument and even won a NAMMY award, (Native American Music Awards). But Ball isn't a traditionalist. He's taking the Native flute in new directions, creating global chamber music arrangements on his latest album, The Shape of Light. Jeff Ball and his band talk about their music.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ACOUSTIC EIDOLON
Guitjo and cello in chamber music moods
Acoustic Eidolon is a duo from Colorado who create a folk-inflected chamber music based around the cello of Hannah Alkire and the guitjo of Joe Scott. It's a double-necked acoustic guitar with one neck struck like a banjo, although it usually sounds like a harp when Joe Scott plays it. They play music from across their career including their latest album, Barefoot.

AN INTERVIEW WITH HAMMOCK: AMBIENT AMERICANA SHOEGAZERS
Nashville duo talks about an atmospheric guitar landscape
Hammock is a little known duo from Nashville, though both Andrew Thompson and Marc Byrd are players on that city's booming music scene. On their own, they create guitar driven orchestrations of ambient sound heard recently on their January Echoes CD of the Month, Raising Your Voice...Trying to Stop An Echo. They talk about a music born of loss, awakening and musical experimentation.
