INTERVIEWS AND CONCERTS FOR THE WEEK
Monday 04/16
RASA: INDIGO BLUE
Sanskrit chants reimagined in global tapestries
For all of the new millennium, Rasa has been exploring the sound of Indian Bhajans or prayers, creating new melodies for Kim Waters' luminous voice and setting them in a global landscape of percussion and Hans Christians' multiple strings, including the cello, sarangi, and Indian violin, and nyckleharpe a Swedish keyed fiddle. Formerly based in San Francisco and now living in northern Wisconsin, they talk about bhajan fusion seven years on.

AN INTERVIEW WITH LOREENA MCKENNITT: A JOURNEY CONTINUED
Loreena McKennitt picks up where she left off a decade ago
It's been nearly 10 years since Loreena McKennitt released her last CD. Her new CD, An Ancient Muse takes the bookmark out of The Book of Secrets and picks up the story where she left off on her mystical journey through Middle Eastern and northern Saharan cultures. Currently on tour and with a PBS Great Performances special running, we return to our visit on with McKennitt, who tells her tale of an earlier day.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH STEPHEN BENNETT
Multi-Guitar Wizard Plays Live
Stephen Bennett steps into the Echoes Living Room with his three guitars: 6-string, National Steel and the harp-guitar, to play a concert of original music. Bennett is best known for his work on the antique and exotic harp-guitar but he can play a mean slide on National Steel and pluck with the best of them on 6-string. He plays music from across his career in the Echoes Living Room.
