A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH CARYN LIN
Electric violinist plugs in and loops
Caryn Lin plays a space age violin with a rock guitarist’s set of effects pedals. Using her violin for percussion as well as melody, she creates an ambient chamber music soundscape, layering her instrument with shifting timbres. It sounds like a mutated string orchestra, but it's just Caryn Lin, playing everything in real time. We'll hear her do it live on Echoes. View Playlist

A CLASSICAL CONFLUENCE
Classical music beyond Bach and Beethoven
We’ll hear a confluence of classics, as orchestral musicians cross over into new terrain and classic works are re-interpreted in modern ways. It includes performances by Yo-Yo Ma, William Orbit and Richie Blackmore. Wait a minute, wasn't he on the “Echoes Rocks” show? That's the world of Classical Confluence. View Playlist

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH DEAN DE BENEDICTIS
Veteran synthesist turns his bedroom into an ethno-techno space probe
Dean De Benedictis makes an introspective brand of electronica full of literary and mystical references. He records under his own name and as Surface 10 and has also started an electronic community in Los Angeles called the Fateless Flow Collective. His latest CD, SALVAGING THE PAST (Spotted Peccary), is a recording of emotional resonance as De Benedictis looks back at his music, fusing elements of German space music, glitch electronica, operatic vocals and his Native flutes. In his bedroom studio, De Benedictis fires up vintage synthesizers, wooden flutes and is joined by operatic soprano Cathryn Deering for a free descent into his music, live. View Playlist
