We hear music transformed on Echoes Re-mixed. From Sami singers to minimalist composers music is sliced, diced, fractured and reconstituted in new ways. Echoes explores the art of the re-mix with original music including Madredeus, Steve Reich, and Gigi, and re-calibrations by Bill Laswell, Coldcut, Aphex Twin and more.

Wednesday 04/02/03
Aurah is Swiss musicians Marc Dold and Judith Martin. You've heard them both separately as session musicians and re-mix artists. Dold's re-mix team, S.A.F, created the hit version of Enya's "Only Time." As Aurah, Dold and Martin traffic in an electronica brand of ethereal world fusion whose themes are inspired by Paulo Coelho's mystic novel, "The Alchemist." They blend Middle Eastern and flamenco touches with electronica grooves and Martin's breathy vocals. Aurah talk about their music and inspiration.

Friday 04/04/03
We turn on, tune in and trip out on the sound of the psychedelic sixties. We break out the lava lamp and trip through a pastoral brand of psychedelic music including the sounds of Pink Floyd, Spirit, and The Jefferson Airplane. We'll also hear some of their psychedelic heirs including Sigur Ros and The Future Sound of London It's part of a hallucinatory flashback on a Psychedelic Echoes.
