TAN DUN & YO-YO MA: CROUCHING COMPOSER, HIDDEN CELLIST
Chinese composer Tan Dun and cellist Yo-Yo Ma united for one of the unique and acclaimed film score for CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON. We talk to both artists about the challenges of making a cross-cultural, east-west score and a music that emerges as much from western Chinese shamanism as European classicism. Yo-Yo Ma and percussionist David Cossins also play music live from the score.

FORREST FANG: FRACTAL LANDSCAPES AND GLOBAL MUTATIONS
Forrest Fang is classically trained on violin, but his music has always been a collage. His Richmond, California home is stuffed with instruments from around the world made of animal horns, bones, skin, gourds, and metal. Using computers, synthesizers and fractals, he works them into ambient designs. We visit Forrest Fang's sound museum and talk about his recent album, GONGLAND (Projekt).

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH OREGON
Oregon stands as one of the most influential instrumental ensembles of our generation. Born in the early 1970's out of the Paul Winter Consort, Oregon has created their detailed brand of chamber improvisation brining in world music elements and lush lyricism. With guitarist Ralph Towner, bassist Glen Moore, reed player, Paul McCandless and new drummer Mark Walker, each musician can stake claim to the word, virtuoso. Their latest album OREGON IN MOSCOW (Intuition) was nominated for four Grammy awards this year. Oregon comes into the Echoes living room, playing their music live.

AL DI MEOLA'S TANGO TANGENTS
Guitarist Al Di Meola has been enamored of tango music for the better part of 20 years. Best known for his work with Chick Corea's Return to Forever group and a string of burning solo fusion albums, Di Meola goes for a more acoustic sound on his latest album, THE GRANDE PASSION (Telarc) playing the compositions of Tango master Astor Piazzolla and his own, evocative works. In his home studio, Al Di Meola reveals the dance steps of his new album.
