A look back at some of his sonic collages
Before the age of digital samplers and music computers, Holger Czukay was cutting and pasting sounds pulled off radio broadcasts, shortwave, and anywhere else he could get sound on tape and manipulating them into audio landscapes. He was a founding member of the Seminal German Group, a student of Karlheinz Stockhausen and a collaborator with David Sylvian, Brian Eno and Jah Wobble. We celebrate his 70th birthday today and listen to some of his sonic collages.
