ROBERT RICH: ANALOG DAZE
Techno-tribal pioneer returns to analog space music roots
Robert Rich takes retro-space music and points it back to the future on a new CD called ELECTRIC LADDER. Mixing analog synthesizers, lap steel guitar and some minimalist horn charts by Paul Hanson, Robert Rich takes the classic 70s space music sound and filters it through 21st century sensibilities. GRETCHEN YANOVER: THE MODERN DAY CELLIST IS LOOPED
Classical cellist turns alterna-rocker and ambient composer
Gretchen Yanover is from a new generation of classical musicians. By day, she's a member of the Northwest Sinfonietta, a chamber orchestra in Seattle. By night, she plays with alterna-rockers Trwst, and in her quieter moments she sits with a looping device creating her own minimalist cello adagios. She recently released her debut CD, BOW AND CELLO. In her Seattle home, Gretchen Yanover tells how playing Bach cello pieces in a local café turned into a solo career.View Playlist

BLUETECH: DROPPED, STIRRED AND CHILLED ELECTRONICA
Electronic artist follows the Sines and drops into Singularities
Bluetech is a Bay Area laptop composer whose latest album, Sines and Singularities (Aleph-Zero Records) is a delirious ascent into electro-ambient architecture, full of fractured melodies and kinetic, dub-inflected rhythms. In a San Francisco Victorian home that could stand in for the 60's psychedelic abodes of the Jefferson Airplane and Grateful Dead, Bluetech talks about a new music for mind expansion that's even more plugged in.
