THE WORLD ON A HARP STRING
Just about every culture has a harp tradition, and many of those
harpists are looking to expand those traditions in new
directions. We'll survey the latest harp music coming from the
Celtic continuum, including electro-harpist Rudiger Oppermann,
Swiss harpist Andreas Vollenweider and music from the Celtic
Harpestry collection.

RICHARD LEO JOHNSON-ACOUSTIC AXE VICTIM
Richard Leo Johnson was born and raised in Arkansas and that's
where he picked up a uniquely aggressive approach to the acoustic
guitar that recalls Michael Hedges. Playing mostly 12 string, he
hammers, slams and plucks his guitar to create a mutated
orchestra of melodies that have hints of jazz, country, blues and
folk. We caught up with Richard just as his debut album,
"Fingertip Ship" (Metro Blue) was about to be released.

AN ECHOES ST. PATRICK'S DAY WITH LIVING ROOM CONCERTS BY
PAUL WINTER AND CHERISH THE LADIES
Echoes' first ever Living Room Concerts for St. Patrick's day
will feature Paul Winter & Friends recorded in the Cathedral of
St. John the Divine in New York City playing music from Paul
Winter's latest album, Celtic Solstice. Then we travel to the
intimate space of the Echoes living room where Joanie Madden and
Cherish the Ladies enthrall us with tunes from Ireland and
originals featuring the Irish whistle and flute of Joanie Madden.
