AN ECHOES VERNAL EQUINOX Celebrate the turning of the season with an Echoes soundscape
of ambient designs and acoustic textures drawn from nature as
crickets, birds, wind and ocean are drawn into a sonnet of music
to praise the world around us.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH IRARI Irari is Kazakstan-born singer Irina Mikhailova and pianist
Ira Stein. Together, they're taking Balkan and Russian folk songs
and turning them into haunting, soul-baring chamber jazz art songs.
We gather in Ira's Oakland, California living room where he,
Irina, percussionist Geoffrey Gordon and saxophonist Dan Zinn
unfold the captivating melodies of their CD, ESQUISSE.

WINDHAM HILL'S CINEMA: RE-SCORING MOVIES There are hours upon hours of scores churned out for motion
pictures. Most are forgettable. The ones that aren't are usually
bled to death for years. On CINEMA, Windham Hill Records gathers
their stable of artists to render personal takes on cinematic
themes old and new, obscure and popular. Among the interpretations
of works by John Williams, Ennio Morricone and Yann Tiersen are
performances by pianists George Winston and Liz Story, violinist
Tracy Silverman and guitarist Alex De Grassi. We talk with CINEMA
producer, Dawn Atkinson and some of the musicians about their
cinematic exploits.
Thursday 03/24/05
JAMI SIEBER'S ELEPHANT DREAMS Dr. Dolittle talks with the animals, but Jami Sieber plays
music with the elephants. The cellist recorded a CD with the
Thai Elephant Orchestra called HIDDEN SKY and it doesn't sound
like a bunch of elephants stomping around. Jami Sieber wove intimate
musical conversations with the elephants and created her own ambient
chamber music evocation of her Thai elephant experience. Jami
Sieber tells her enchanting story on Echoes.
