ECHOES MARCH CD OF THE MONTH
ERIC TINGSTAD: SOUTHWEST
Eric Tingstad is best known as the guitar half of his duo with oboist and ocarina player Nancy Rumbel, but on his new CD, Southwest, he takes a different path. From the opening track, Sunrise at Four Corners, it's obvious this isn't another acoustic chamber work, as pedal steel guitar, native flute and hand drums articulate an open plains melody. This is western chamber music, but a west of the mythic imagination. We explore it with Eric Tingstad's Southwest, our Echoes March CD of the Month.
