From Mali comes Rokia Traore, a singer-songwriter whose lyrics are in her native Bamama tongue but whose songs speak a universal language through her sensual, smokey voice. We talk with her about her new album, Tchamantché that moves through deep meditations and joyous hymns.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH LISA LYNNE AND ARYEH FRANKFURTER
Two harpists, one music
Lisa Lynne and Aryeh Frankfurter
are well-known exponents of the Celtic harp. Lisa writes original music and has recorded for Windham Hill and New Earth Records. Aryeh specializes in Scandinavian folk music. Both play multiple instruments and we'll hear many of them when these two gifted musicians get together in an Echoes performance for harp, Swedish nycklleharpe, bouzouki and viola.

The best soundtracks of the year aren't necessarily nominated for Academy Awards. On this Echoes we'll hear music from films that didn't seem to pass Academy muster, but are welcome on the red carpet of Echoes. It's an all-soundtrack show of Oscar outcasts, though don't be surprised if a couple of Academy Award nominees crash the party.
