FEATURES FOR THE WEEK
Monday 02/14/05
ECHOES OF THE HEART Echoes celebrates St. Valentine's Day with a sensual soundscape
of atmospheric moods and poetic murmurs. We'll hear evocations
of love from the country that brought us the Kama Sutra, some
deep ambient trances of the heart and we'll recline in the LOVER'S
LOUNGE, an ambient collection.
Tuesday 02/15/05
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH JAMI SIEBER Jami Sieber plays a cello that looks like a stick with a peg
leg on it. But plugging into a rack of electronic effects, she
turns herself into a one woman string orchestra. Echoes travels
to a living room in Berkeley, California where Jami Sieber plays
music from her latest CD, HIDDEN SKY (Out Front) live in an Echoes
Living Room Concert.
Wednesday 02/16/05
DARIN SCHAFFER: EASTERN BASS GUITAR A lot of solo musicians try to sound larger than they are,
but most of them do it with a lot of over-dubbing. Bay Area artist
Darin Schaffer plays an acoustic bass guitar but with looping,
and electronic processing he creates a broad tapestry that sometimes
sounds eastern, sometimes country and often ambient. Darin Schaffer
talks about his approach and his latest album.
Friday 02/18/05
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH FORASTIERE You probably haven't heard Pino Forastiere anywhere but on
Echoes. He's an Italian guitarist with a formidable set of chops
and an animated performance style. Influenced by Michael Hedges,
Forastiere has managed to distill that two-handed tapping approach
into his own evocative compositions on a CD appropriately called
RAG, TAP, BOOM. Forastiere comes into the Echoes living room where
he plays his music live.
