COYOTE OLDMAN-NATURAL WINDS/VIRTUAL CANYONS
Michael Graham Allen and Barry Stramp are Coyote Oldman and they
play Native American flutes, Incan pan-pipes and classical bass
flute with melodies that ebb, flow and morph through each other.
Stramp adds electronic effects, creating shadow echoes and
subliminal melodies like a pipe organ blowing across a virtual
canyon. Their latest album is "House Made of Dawn" (Hearts of
Space). We talk with the Coyotes about their music and Michael
Graham Allen's hybrid flutes.

LOREENA MCKENNITT-TRAGEDY AND REFLECTION
1998 was Loreena McKennitt's year. Her album, "The Book of
Secrets" (Warner Bros.) went into Billboard's Top 20 and the
song, "The Mummer's Dance" was a minor hit and a movie trailer
favorite. But tragedy struck Loreena in 1999, when her fiancee
was lost in a boating accident. The results are a benefit album
for the Cook-Rees memorial Fund for Water Search and Safety, Live
in Paris & Toronto (Quinlan Road). It's also a chance for
McKennitt to reflect on her career and the impact of her music.

ECHOES AT THE MOVIES
It's time to grab some popcorn, an over-sized drink and a center
seat as Echoes goes to the movies this hour. I have some
soundtracks old and classic. On the classic side, Wendy Carlos's
harrowing score to A Clockwork Orange was re-issued recently.
We'll also hear the soundtrack I thought should have won the
Academy Award this year, Hans Zimmer's score to The Thin Red
Line.
