ECHOES PLAYLIST For the Week of January 11, 1999 The following playlist is for one (1) week of ECHOES programming (5 days, 2 hours per day). Your local station may run only certain segments or one day of programming from this week's list especially if you hear Echoes on a weekend. Your station may also reverse the hours of Echoes, so that half hours 3&4 become 1&2. HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE WEEK Monday, January 11, 1999 DAVY SPILLANE: AN UILLEANN WIND BLOWS
Davy Spillane is a veteran Irish piper and whistle player. On his latest album, "The Sea of Dreams," he continues his lush Celtic arrangements. This time out, he's also aided on two pieces by singer Sinead O'Connor. Davy Spillane talks about his new Celtic music and why he wished James Horner went down with the Titanic.
Tuesday, January 12, 1999 A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH STEVE ERQUIAGA Steve Erquiaga is a veteran player usually associated with more jazz oriented sounds, but on his CD CAFE PARADISO (Imaginary Road), he explores the acoustic and classical side of his guitar playing. We capture Steve in a living room concert, performing original pieces and inventive renditions of songs from the classical repertoire. Wednesday, January 13, 1999 FEATURE: THE L.A. GUITAR QUARTET-GLOBAL GUITAR CLASSICISTS The L.A. Guitar Quartet have spent most of their careers bending their strings to the songs of the classical repertoire. But on their latest CD, L.A.G.Q. (Sony Classical), they adapt their instruments to some global sounds, including a Balinese gamelan, African thumb pianos and drums and Incan pan-pipes. The four members of the L.A. Guitar Quartet talk about their classical world music. *************************************************************** *denotes compilation ID# 99-J07-00007 Monday, January 11, 1999 (Echoes Program Z-45) ARTIST SELECTION RECORDING First Half Hour Uakti Arrumacao Orbitones, Spoon Harps & Bellowfones* Jami Sieber Edge of my Soul Second Sight Jon Hassell & Ba-Benzele 4th World Possible Musics Brian Eno Peter Kater & Shaman's Call Song for Humanity R.
