INTERVIEWS AND CONCERTS FOR THE WEEK

Monday 01/05
JANUARY CD OF THE MONTH
KAYA PROJECT: ...AND SO IT GOES

Kaya Project is the ethno-techno undertaking of Seb Taylor and his partner, Natasha Chamberlain. Their 3rd full-length album, And So It Goes, expands on the merger of electronica with world music exotica, from Africa to India. Taylor mixes global musicians with his own electronics and slide guitar in a nonstop foray that moves from trance to transcendence. It's our January CD of the Month on Echoes.

Tuesday 01/06
AN INTERVIEW WITH JOHN GREGORIUS
Ambient acoustic guitar

John Gregorius is a finger-style guitarist who places his instrument in ambient soundscapes on his album, Heaven and Earth, our December CD of the Month. He's played rock 'n' roll, but he merges Windham Hill-style acoustics with Steve Tibbetts-style landscaping. John Gregorius talks about his guitar journey, which includes the Christian imagery that suffuses his music.

Wednesday 01/07
AN INTERVIEW WITH THE MARCIN WASILEWSKI TRIO
Chamber jazz from Poland

The Marcin Wasilewski Trio are just barely old enough to remember communist rule in Poland, but to them, jazz represented freedom. They express that freedom in intuitive, and often introspective improvisations that play with colors as much as notes. We talk to these three musicians who have been playing together since they were teenagers.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH VIC HENNEGAN
An electronic composer pours out soundscapes from the sea in the Echoes Living Room

Vic Hennegan is an electronic musician who grew up on the sounds of Tangerine Dream and Jean-Michel Jarre. He returns to those roots through the virtual world of computer synthesizers, emulating the sounds of classic analog Moogs and Arps on his new CD, Aqua Vista. The album has an aquatic theme and Vic Hennegan pours it out when he plays live on Echoes.
