AN INTERVIEW WITH MYSTICAL SUN: AMBIENT LIGHT
A laptop composer breathes mountain ambiences
Mystical Sun is the recording moniker of a San Francisco Bay area laptop composer and musician who has been quietly articulating a deeply chilled brand of ambient music, much of which he says is inspired by the low mountains surrounding his home. It's been years since his last CD, but he's been leaking out ambient gems on collections like Ambienism Volume One (Spiralight) and 13th Moon (Interchill). Now he finally has a new CD called Deeperworlds. We return to our 2004 interview with Mystical Sun where we head up to Mt. Diablo to find the meaning in his ambience.

AL DI MEOLA INTERVIEW: GUITAR SCHISMS
A guitarist torn between electric and acoustic
Al Di Meola earned his reputation for death defying speed runs with Chick Corea's Return to Forever and on a string of solo CDs in the 1970s and 80s. But for nearly two decades, he's spent even more time with the acoustic guitar, recording in a trio with John McLaughlin and Paco De Lucia, his own World Symphonia and many other projects. On a new CD called Consequence of Chaos, he returns to electric. Al Di Meola talks about his return to electric guitar and the acoustic album around the corner.
