BELA FLECK & EDGAR MEYER: CLASSICAL AMERICANA
Bela Fleck is the virtuoso banjo picker who cut his fingers on
bluegrass, but who now bends his strings to sounds from across
music genres. For several years he's worked with bassist and composer
Edgar Meyer, a classical musician with a country bent. They recently
got together on the live CD, Music for Two (Sony Classical), a
rollicking set of classical vignettes and their own originals
that range from expansive impressionistic works like "Palmyra"
to finger-flying workouts like "Bug Tussle." The two
musicians talk about their unique take on a classical americana.
