A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH YO-YO MA
Acclaimed classical cellist Yo-Yo Ma comes to Echoes with an all-star cast of Brazilian musicians to play music from his new CD, Obrigado Brazil (Sony Classical). Joined by guitarists Sergio & Odair Assad, pianist Kathryn Stott, wind player Paquito D'Rivera, singer Rosa Passos and percussionist Cyro Baptista, Yo-Yo Ma winds his way through themes by Brazilian composers, including Jobim and Villa-Lobos. It's a lively performance full of both joy and that haunting Brazilian-Portugese melancholy known as "saudade."
