Friday, Aug 28, 2026 – Echoes Program 2634E

On a Slow Flow Echoes, music from Explosions in the Sky. A few years ago, the atmospheric guitar ensemble released an ominously titled album, simply called End. It’s a much more rocking album than their previous releases and certainly their Friday Night Lights score, but we found a more cinematic track on it. John Diliberto goes to the end and back on a Slow Flow Echoes from PRX.

Monday, Aug 31, 2026 – Echoes Program 2635A

Today, we go deep ambient with Peter Phippen and Eric “the” Taylor from their album, Two by Twilight. It’s the September CD of the Month. Peter Phippen is well-known in the flute and new age world with 15 albums so far. He first came to prominence playing Native American Flutes but has since expanded to a panoply of flutes from around the world. Eric “the” Taylor is an electronic artist working in the ambient zone with groups like The Fragile Fate and Dark Sky Alliance. He most recently recorded with David Helpling. They’ve gotten together on an album that might be considered meditative if it wasn’t so surreal. We’ll hear several tracks from Two by Twilight on Echoes from PRX.

Wednesday, Sept 2, 2026 – Echoes Program 2635C

Techno DJs Felsmann & Tiley take the ambient classical pill and dial up a more cinematic electronic sound on their second album, Protomensch. They come in from the cold of hard techno for a warmer, more hypnotic sound that is a long way from the day floor.
Patrick Tiley: “We were a bit more youthful and energetic then for DJing club music and now we’re sort of making more music for the reclining chair.”
Their new conceptual release, Protomensch, manages to be hard-hitting and political as well as poignant and thoughtful, as they explore the idiocy and ingenuity of mankind. We talk to Felsmann & Tiley on Echoes from PRX.
