Eartheater is experimental composer, singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Alexandra Drewchin. Her album, Heavenly Body: If I’m the Bottle You’re the Message, explores her pregnancy with her first child, with all the vicissitudes of pregnancy, pain of birth, along with pregnant sex and a transformed body. She does it all in clever avant-pop songs. Join John Diliberto in the heavenly dimensions of the next Echoes, from PRX.

Spotted Peccary

Today, it’s all about Spotted Peccary Music as the pioneering ambient and electronic label celebrates its 40th anniversary. It has outlasted Windham Hill, Narada, Hearts of Space Records and many more. Artists like David Helpling, Deborah Martin, Chronotope ProjectCraig Padilla and Rudy Adrian have been part of a catalog of more than 200 releases, all shaped by the creative vision of Howard Givens and Deborah Martin, the brain trust of the label

Howard Givens: “The goal was to design a sound that left you immersed in the music, not distracted by the fact that it came from a synthesizer.”

The Spotted Peccary is an imaginary creature born in the desert southwest. But it’s the name of a real label, Spotted Peccary music. They’re celebrating 40 years since they came together in Tucson, Arizona. They actually released their first album in 1989, In the Land of Power by Brain Laughter. We’ll be talking with Deborah Martin and Howard Givens about the genesis of the label. In addition, all of today’s Echoes will be music from the Spotted Peccary label. Join John Diliberto on the 40th anniversary of Spotted Peccary Music on Echoes from PRX.
