KARYYN

Today we’ve got an extraordinary artist for you, KÁRYYN. She is an electronic singer-songwriter of Armenian descent who came up through the experimental world studying with electronic and Deep Listening composer Pauline Oliveros.  She has released her second album, Physics Universal Love Language or PULL. Her music is centered around her voice.

KÁRYYN: My voice is my first instrument and I’m not trained as a singer so it’s not about singing licks, it’s not about that, you know, it’s not traditionally what would sound beautiful. I use my voice to shape whatever I’m trying to sing, so whatever I’m trying to express and that is what the voice is for.

Her voice goes many places when John Diliberto talks to KÁRYYN on Echoes from PRX.

Wednesday, June 10, 2026 – Music from Rone

Rone

On the next Echoes we go whaling with Rone from his album Megaptera. Rone is the name used by Erwa Castex to create some pretty inventive electronic music.  Megaptera takes it’s title from the scientific name for Humpback whales and Catex actually went out with a filmmaker and scientists to explore the resonance of music with oceangoing creatures. He creates an electronic tone poem to these oceanic behemoths We’ll also hear new music by guitar Tom Caufield from his album Quiet Modern and it’s the return of Board of Canada releasing their first new album in 13 years. It’s called Inferno and It ignites on Echoes with John Diliberto from PRX.

Slow Flow Echoes

On a Slow Flow Echoes, music by Nicholas Gunn from his single, Thoughts of You. He’s returned to his flute after a dalliance with synthesizers, which are still there. We’ll also hear from the Nashville Ambient Ensemble which puts some country into their ambient soundscapes. John Diliberto brings it to us on Echoes from PRX.
