Weekend, March 9 & 10, 2019: March CD of the Month

Big Chill with Kevin Keller's Ice Worlds, Echoes CD of the Month/Big Ears with the Music Festival 2019

This weekend on Echoes, it’s the Big Chill and Big Ears. We play our March CD of the Month, Ice Worlds by Kevin Keller. A pioneer of ambient chamber music, Kevin Keller goes all electronic and effervescent on this album of synth moods and chilled melodies. We skate into Kevin Keller’s Ice Worlds, the CD of the Month, on Echoes.  Read John Diliberto’s review.

Weekend listeners may also hear about the Big Ears Festival. You need a big mind to explore the Big Ears Festival 2019. Big Ears celebrates its 10th anniversary in Knoxville, TN, as one of the most wide-ranging, furthest thinking music festivals in America. We talk to founder Ashley Capps, who also founded Big Ears and revived Moogfest, about a festival that embraces ECM jazz, avant-garde classical music, Appalachian folk musicians and outside the mainstream rockers. This year’s festival includes Richard Thompson, Meredith Monk, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Bill Frisell and many many more.
