Beacon brings Dream-Pop sound to a Dark Video “On Ice”

Dream-Pop Duo Beacon Go Ominous with "On Ice" Video

Beacon is the downtempo R&B-inflected dreampop project of Thomas Mullarney III and Jacob Gossett, two guys who met at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and began conceiving electronically driven mood pieces. They’ve just released their album, Gravity Pairs and we are a few tracks deep into it, including the song “On Ice”. It’s a slow-burn, ominous track behind a spare drum machine-sounding groove from Tycho drummer Rory O’Connor and double-tracked, auto-tuned vocals. They’ve come up with something of a creepy video of Mullarney singing in the rain and in a swimming pool while bodies of woman float in deathly stillness around him. Despite the title and lyrics, there is no ice.
