More Than $82 Million Awarded for Arts Projects Nationwide
Includes $20,000 awarded to Echoes

Chester Springs – National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $20,000 to Echoes, the nightly new music program featuring interviews, concerts and music from artists on the chill-side of music. The NEA received 2,063 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

“The arts reflect the vision, energy, and talent of America’s artists and arts organizations,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support organizations such as Echoes, in serving their communities by providing excellent and accessible arts experiences.”

“We are thrilled to get this award,” says Echoes Executive Director and host John Diliberto. “NEA has funded our work almost non-stop since the 1980s, and their support helps us continue our mission.”

Launched in 1989, Echoes has been at the vanguard of new music for over 27 years, featuring interviews and performances with established pioneers like Tori Amos, Yo-Yo Ma, and Brian Eno and  newer artists on the cutting edge like Sigur Ros, Tycho, Agnes Obel and Goldfrapp. Echoes pushes boundaries in Ambient and Electronic music, Dream-pop, Trip-Hop and Downtempo, World Fusion and New Age. Using highly produced, incisive interviews, exclusive live performances and artfully sequenced music, Echoes brings a world of music together for 100’s of thousand listeners each weeknight. Echoes also produces a weekly podcast of feature interviews and streams on-line. Go to Echoes.org for more information.
