Weekend, June 4 & 5, 2016-Echoes Program 1622A

Echoes June CD of the Month is Aukai

Aukai is a Hawaiian word that means traveler and that’s just what multi-instrumentalist Markus Sieber does on this expansive yet intimate set of world music chamber pieces. If you think of Gustavo Santaolalla when you hear it, that’s no accident because Sieber occasionally plays the ronroco which is identified with the noted film composer. Aukai’s music is cinematic in its own right, full of exotic colors and pastoral meditations. Echoes of Santolalla, the Penguin Café Orchestra and Roger Eno echo through this music. Aukai is the Echoes CD of the Month for June.
