Briana Marela sings heavenly songs of unconditional love, rendering them in looping stacked voices. Her new album, All Around Us, is named after a children’s book and her music has that sense of innocence, awe and exploration. She creates her songs in beautiful choral chants and hymns that recall the gothic sounds of Abbess Hildegard von Bingen, avant-garde singer Meredith Monk, and a touch of Laurie Anderson.
