Monday, July 13th, 2015- Echoes Program 1528A

Iceland's Árstíðir Plays Live on Echoes.

Árstíðir is another band out of Iceland, but this one has a more organic and acoustic sound with routes in the harmonies of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Playing guitars, violin, piano and cello, these musicians assay some of the introspective songs of their album, Hvel with vocal harmonies that will leave you breathless. At times they sound like they could’ve come right out of the 60s folk revival, but this is a modern band whose influences include Philip Glass and Ólafur Arnalds as much as folk. In fact, Arnalds produced their second album and their cellist played with Arnalds on his Echoes session 5 years ago.
