A Winged Victory for the Sullen is an evocatively and somberly named group consisting of American composers Adam Wiltzie from Stars of the Lid and Dustin O’Halloran. Together they’ve created an ambient chamber music merging electronics, guitar and strings. They’ve just released their second album, Atomos and talk with us about modern classical music in an alternative landscape.
Dustin O’Halloran: We’re making music as the ship goes down.
Adam Wiltzie: A wise man once said it’s kind of impossible to make anything beautiful without some melancholy, so I think it all stems from that.
