Echoes Top 25 for September: Fernwood Heads List

Sangita_cvr Fernwood tops the Echoes Top 25 for September with their CD of the Month, Sangita

September was another strong month for new music on Echoes, led by the second album from Fernwood, Sangita. I wrote about this group and their global Americana chamber music in my September CD of the Month review.

Interestingly, the top four CDs all have anAmericana tinge to them.  Moby’s Wait for Me, Bill Frisell’s Disfarmer,  and The Gentlemen Losers’ Dustland seem embedded in Americana roots whether they hail from electronica, jazz or Finland.

AerosolMy favorite newcomer to the list is definitely Airborne by Aerosol.    Something about that name strikes me as weird, like I should be spraying it under my arm, but the music Rasmus Rasmussen is making is heavenly.  He played in a Danish band called Limp with fellow Dane and electronic artist, Jonas Munk, who now records as Manual and Aerosol is in the shoegaze-electronica mode popularized by Ulrich Schnauss.  But Aerosol is afraid of an intoxicating melody tied to a seductive atmosphere.    It’s another great release from the n5MD Label.

See what other treats you’ll find in the Echoes Top 25 for September.

And look out next week when 20 Icons and 200 CDs for 20 Years of Echoes are revealed.
