BAKA BEYOND: SHAKING THE RHYTHM TREE

Baka Beyond have been working at the intersection of Pygmy music and Celtic music for a dozen years since their debut, SPIRIT OF THE FOREST. The band has perfected a synergy where Scottish Mouth music merges with pygmy chants and Celtic Aires coalesce with Pygmy lullabies. Their latest album is RHYTHM TREE(March Hare Music) and it shows the group moving in a more acoustic direction. We talk with Baka Beyond founders Martin Cradick and Su Hart.

Thursday 09/22/05
MARK O'CONNOR'S CLASSICAL AMERICANA

For the last 30 years, violinist Mark O'Connor has been creating at the intersection of classical and country. Cutting his teeth in bluegrass fiddle contests as a child, O'Connor has gone on to compose classical concerti and collaborate with cellist Yo-Yo Ma and bassist Edgar Meyer on APPALACHIAN WALTZ. He's played with just about everybody from the Dixie Dregs to Emmy Lou Harris. His latest albums include his DOUBLE VIOLIN CONCERTO and CROSSING BRIDGES, with his Appalachia Waltz Trio (Omac Records). Mark O'Connor takes us on an Appalachian Journey.

We no longer administer this gopher site, but we're thrilled to see that it's still up and running. Thanks to the kind folks at The Well for maintaining it.
