FEATURES FOR THE WEEK

Monday 09/08/03
CODE INDIGO: DECIPHERING TIME CODE
Code Indigo is a collective of English musicians that includes veteran synthesists David Wright and Robert Fox. In their studios in the Suffolk countryside, they unlock the secrets of their new CD, TIME CODE (AD Music), which takes a more electro-symphonic approach to space music and includes the ethereal vocals of Louise Eggerton.

Wednesday 09/10/03
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ADRIAN LEGG
Veteran English guitar eccentric, Adrian Legg plugs into the Echoes Living Room for an extraordinary concert of guitar music that defies categorization. Based in folk traditions from England to Appalachia, Adrian Legg is nevertheless a thoroughly modern musician, using a custom electric guitar with special banjo pitch-bending pegs and an array of electronic processing effects. Although his latest album, GUITAR BONES (Favored Nations Acoustic Records) is all acoustic, Legg is decidedly electric when he plays some of this music live on Echoes.

Thursday 09/11/03
AN ECHOES REQUIEM 2003
On the anniversary of September 11th, Echoes once again creates a soundscape of remembrance and reflection, a counterpoint to the news and analysis that will no doubt dominate the day. We'll dispense with voices, and let music speak with many compositions that have been inspired by the events of 9-11 and the aftermath.

Friday 09/12/03
PAT METHENY'S ACOUSTIC REVERIES
Pat Metheny is the most highly regarded of electric jazz guitarists, noted for his sophisticated fusion with the Pat Metheny Group and for taking extreme chances in his music, including electric distortion freak-outs to recordings with Ornette Coleman. But on his new album ONE QUIET NIGHT (Warner Bros.), the New York based guitarist takes a turn towards quiet ruminations on solo acoustic guitar, largely inspired by post 9-11 moods. Pat Metheny talks about his improvised reveries.
