INTERVIEWS AND CONCERTS FOR THE WEEK

Monday 07/09
VISUAL MUSIC
Open your ears and see

Most musicians have some visual imagery in their head when they compose and now many of them are realizing those images with new computer technology and DVDs. We can't provide the pictures, but we can give you the music that artists are using to forge a sound and vision experience. You can read about it at www.echoes.org and the article, SYNAESTHESIA FOR YOUR TV, and you can hear on this special edition of Echoes.

Tuesday 07/10
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH TONY MCMANUS
Scottish finger-style filigree

Tony McManus is a ferociously good finger-style guitarist. He's one of those players who sends circles spinning around your head while making it all look easy. He returns to the Echoes living room to play some new music and tell some tales live.

Wednesday 07/11
AN INTERVIEW WITH MICHAEL HALAAS AND JOAN JEANRENAUD: DUOS OF DESIRE
Michael Halaas makes a passionate brand of chamber music. Not passionate as in romantic, but passionate in powerful and dynamic. This journeyman pianist teams up with cello virtuoso Joan Jeanrenaud from Kronos Quartet on a CD called The Lucidity Project. We get them together to talk about a different kind of chamber music.

A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH JEFF BALL
Native flute in a world chamber music setting

Jeff Ball is a virtuoso of the Native American flute and a winner of a NAMMY Award (Native American Music Awards). He brings his quartet into the Echoes Living Room, which includes an instrument called the hung drum, a cross between a gamelan orchestra and pan drums. They play the serene music of Ball's latest album, The Shape of Light.
