FREE SYSTEM PROJEKT'S SPONTANEOUS CREATIONS
Free System Projekt is a Dutch trio headed up by Marcel Engels that harkens back to the days of Tangerine Dream, circa 1975. Working with vintage analog synthesizer sounds, Free System Projekt improvises all their music, composing it on the spot in spontaneous performances that can be heard on their album, POINTLESS REMINDER (Quantum). We gather the trio together to talk about their space music excursions and creating music on the fly.

RICHARD SEARLES: RENAISSANCE FAIRE
Richard Searles talks about ye olde music in the new age. Richard Searles is a classical guitarist creating a modern chamber music based in Renaissance era forms. Playing with harpsichords and tablas, he's been orchestrating a music that mixes equal parts of Renaissance Faire, Tolkienesque fantasies and chamber music designs since the 1980s. His latest album is The Green Man (Earthdance). We visit Richard Searles in his studio outside of Los Angeles where he takes a journey to the past.

Thursday 03/14/02
A LIVING ROOM CONCERT WITH ANCIENT FUTURE
Ancient Future whips up a global groove live in the Echoes Living Room. Ancient Future is the longtime world fusion ensemble that has been mixing Indian, Asian, African and Chamber music into global designs since their 1980 debut album. They've just released a new CD, PASSION PLANET (Ancient Future Music). In founder and guitarist Matthew Montfort's Marin County home, we gathered the band into his living room to play live on Echoes. This is an all-star group that includes singer Irina Mikhailova (of Medicine Drum and Lumin), Indian sitarist Habib Khan, Iranian percussionist Emam and keyboardist Doug McKeehan.

A CELTIC ECHOES SOUNDSCAPE FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY
For St. Patrick's Day, Echoes goes to the Ireland of the mind with a soundscape inspired by the Celtic Isles with harpers Patrick Ball and Lisa Lynne, contemporary moods from Seamus Egan's Solas, and voices of Ireland from Clannad to Enya. It's a Celtic soundscape for St. Patrick's Day on Echoes.
