ECHOES APRIL CD OF THE MONTH
HOLD ME TO THIS: CHRISTOPHER O'RILEY PLAYS RADIOHEAD
As host of the public radio show From the Top, pianist Christopher O'Riley is a competitor. But that's not stopping us from picking his latest album as our CD of the Month for April. This is O'Riley's second run at the music of Radiohead, following his critically acclaimed TRUE LOVE WAITS CD. But HOLD ME TO THIS might be even better as O'Riley creates knotty, challenging re-inventions full of overtone clusters and spiraling counterpoints. Yet, the essential melodicism, incisive drive and quirky structures of Radiohead still ring out as O'Riley finds the rock and let's the classical breathe. We'll hear it in this special two hour feature.
