AFROCELTS: REWIRING THE GLOBAL ROOTS SYSTEM
They used to be Afro Celt Sound System, a group that fused African and Celtic melodies, rhythms and musicians along with electronica grooves and loops. All those elements remain, but on their new CD, SEED (Realworld), they've dropped the Sound System and it's association with Reggae DJs. Instead, Afro Celts consider themselves more of a band these days, charting a course through an exhilarating brand of world fusion. SEED is Echoes' CD of the Month for April. We talk to the principle members of AfroCelts about building a global music from the roots up.
