MICHAEL MANDRELL & BENJY WERTHEIMER: YOGA DUDES
Benjy Wertheimer and Michael Mandrell are veterans of modern instrumental music with eastern overtones. Benjy Wertheimer was a founding member of the world fusion band, Ancient Future and is a master of the tabla drums and esraj, an Indian violin. Michael Mandrell is a sensitive finger-style guitarist who's music was recently used on the soundtrack to the award winning documentary, STONE READER. These two musicians got together in Oregon where they've been fusing a music for yoga with languid improvisations and fiery tabla-guitar duels. They talk about their sound and spirit.
