Maggie Koerner Live and Syrinx Psychedelic Flashback
Maggie Koerner is a soul belter from Louisiana who has discovered a more contemplative and ambient side on her EP, Dig Down Deep, produced by another singer with an ambient sensibility Fin Greenall, better known as Fink. Koerner comes in with her band and sends soul and sensuality seething across the ethereal grooves of her band that recall Dr. John in his Night Tripper days as well as early David Bowie.
Weekend listeners will hear Syrinx who was an obscure Canadian band making an electronic space music a few years before Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze’s seminal works. They released two albums in 1970 and 1971 and then faded away. But now Syrinx has risen. Last year those records were unearthed and packaged as a collection and now, Syrinx is performing live at Moogfest and has a new documentary film out on the band. Surviving members John Mills-Cockell and Doug Pringle talk about their psychedelic electronic odyssey on Echoes.
