Two of my most cherished albums were the only two recordings made by Syrinx,. their self-titled debut and Long Lost Relatives. Released in Canada in 1970 and 1971 respectively, they have been rare, out-of-print releases ever since. Syrinx was making an electronic space music a few years before Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze’s seminal works. After their two albums, they faded away. But now those records have been unearthed and packaged as a collection called Tumblers from the Vault. In addition, there is a new documentary on the the band and they will play their first concert in over forty years this weekend at Moogfest. Synthesist John Mill-Cockell and saxophonist Doug Pringle talk about their psychedelic electronic odyssey.
